The Sorting Stone is of the whitest marble, gleaned from deep within the Forbidden Forest in the Place of Bygone Memories of a time that no longer existence. Chiseled out with a Horn of a legendary beast long dead, using the Skull of the architect of this very school as a hammer, did Headmaster Oberon draw it forth and brought it back to the school on his back. As high and wide as a man’s arm, weighting so that it requires four good men to lift. Its top concave like a bowl and marked with the symbols of four of the School Houses. On the four cardinal point, carved deep in the stone is the emblems of four of the School Houses. To the right, is House Jesby, ever steady to friend or foe. Above, what some men would call North, lays the emblem for House Helgram, ever proud of deeds or duty. To the left, is that of House Sawall, ever resourceful in thoughts and needs. Below or what men would call South, is the mark of House Chanicut, ever clever and wise. But for House Hendrake, no emblem existences upon the stone. For the shard of the blade, that lays in the center, knows its own. When a student places his hand over the stone, the broken blade no wider or longer then first two fingers upon your hand, will become agitate and jump till it lands upon the chosen House. But for House Hendrake, ever courageous are they... the shattered blade of flashing scarlet and gold, leaps up to claim its due, slashing open the palm of those chosen for the House to the loud acclaim of fists upon the tables, where the members of House Hendrake sit.

So come forth, and hold your hand over the Stone and the blade within. Let it determine which House is for you to call home these next eight years. With the shard of the blade, once held by the Silver Rose, lands upon a House...or will it be, one of pain and blood as the Blade once named long ago, claim you as its own.
